The Letter Box CD is a synth-rock and pop CD written and recorded in the late '80s and early '90s. The music is reminiscent of its time with powerful and sleek production with edgy and rangy vocals by Mary Croom and Ron Valenzia. Initially released in 1995, was a combined effort of a group of musical friends. Songwriters Kurt Froberg and Ron Valenzia collaborated on many tracks for the Letter Box CD. Ricky Jay, Miles Croom, and Dave Kelly were prominently featured on Guitar and Jimmy Knoud on Bass. Musician and producer extraordinaire Frank Starchak assisted with just about everything from extra bass lines to coffee!!
The CD opens with an attention-grabbing vocal intro while easing into a strong keyboard riff to take us through an uplifting combination of melody and words in Miracle in Disguise.
Everything Changes is a more thought-provoking title written and sung by Ron Valenzia. The title suggests it all, especially how relationships can change over time.
Track 3 is one of the more powerful tracks. Written by Kurt Froberg and Ron Valenzia, this powerful rock ballad with a stormy guitar solo will have you on the edge as Mary Croom sings Mayday. This song is the story of a love that can never leave the shore because of the predetermined dreams and destination of one's heart that cannot be changed.
Melanie is a powerful reminder of love lost and the attempt to get it back.
The power punch drum part in Far and Away will keep you hanging on as the deep storyline sung by Mary Croom transports you.
Many thanks go out to the contributors for this CD project. Time and love well spent!!
